Dr. Mirgisa Kaba-OPA’S 6TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE AWARD WINNER FOR HIS EXCEPTIONAL DEDICATION & SUPPORT TO OPA BESIDES EXCELLING IN HIS PROFESSION

Dr. Mirgissa is currently an Associate Professor at Addis Ababa University, School of Public Health, with focus on behavioral health. His research focuses on community’s perspective of health, health problems, local resources in health care and exploring of community-facility nexus. Dr. Mirgissa has an extensive experience in teaching, research leadership and management of academic, research and health programs. His research interests revolve around community – facility nexus, barriers to service delivery, demand creation, stigma reduction targeting NCDs, infectious diseases and NTDs.

Dr. Mirgissa authored/co-authored over 130 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals including book chapters, brief communications, and editorials.  He has advised/ co and advising/co more than 35 Masters and 13 PhDs. Dr. Mirgissa is PI/Co-PI of various projects (Urban health, Epidemiological synthesis of HIV, Skin disease stigma, One Health, adolescent and youth health and Female cancer/NCD) some of which are completed while most are still on going. Besides. Dr. Mirgissa is visiting Prof of the University of Kyoto and research fellow of OSSREA.
